How to become a Christian.

If you would rather watch an interactive story about how to become a Christian, click this link.

This is a story of how to become a Christian - http://www.kidzplace.org/Gospel/index.htm

Becoming a Christian is the most important decision you will ever make.  The Bible says this about becoming a Christian:

  • God loves you.  “This is love:  not that we loved God, but that He loved us.”  1 John 4:10
  • Sin separates us from God.  Sin is not doing what God wants you to do.  We sin when we disobey God.  “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  Romans 3:23
  • God sent Jesus so you would not have to die for your sin.  Jesus died on the cross, He was buried, and He rose from the dead.  “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16

To become a Christian you must:

  • ADMIT – Admit to God that you are a sinner, read Romans 3:23 and Romans 6:23.  Repent, or say I’m sorry, and turn away from your sin, read Acts 3:19 and 1 John 1:9.
  • BELIEVE – Believe that Jesus is God’s Son and accept God’s gift of forgiveness from sin, Romans 5:8, Acts 4:12, John 3:16, John 14:6, Ephesians 2:8-9, and John 1:11-13.
  • CONFESS – Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, Romans 10:9-10, 13.

Do you feel that it is time for you to become a Christian?  God’s Holy Spirit will help you know if you are ready or not.  Now is a good time, there may not be another.  If you are ready, then pray a prayer to God that tells Him that you know you are a sinner and that your sin separates you from Him.  Tell God that you are sorry for your sin and that you believe that Jesus died on the cross for you so that your sin can be forgiven.  Tell God that you believe that Jesus rose from the dead and is alive.  Ask God to forgive you.  Ask Jesus to come into your life and be your Savior and Lord and that you will obey Him and live for Him the rest of your life.  Thank Him.  Thank Him every day.

If you have trusted Jesus to be your Savior and Lord, you can be sure that:

  • Your sin is forgiven.
  • You are a Christian.
  • You are a child of God.
  • God will always be with you.
  • You will go to heaven when you die.

Now what?

  • Tell others that you are a Christian and that Jesus is your Savior and Lord.
  • Attend a church regularly.
  • Be baptized to show others that you have become a Christian.
  • Read the Bible and pray to God every day.

But will you ever sin again?  Yes, everyone sins.  But your sins are already forgiven, just confess them to God in prayer.

Will you ever have to become a Christian again?  No, when you ask Jesus into your heart to be your Lord and Savior, that salvation lasts forever.  Remember this promise from God, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”  Hebrews 13:5.

When you do sin, ask God to forgive you and to help you please Him.  Ask Him and He will.  Just ask.  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  1 John 1:9.
